In 2013 I traveled from my NJ home to Nairobi, Kenya. The goal was to organize the large scale production of the first collection for my new company and to have our first photoshoot for the Power Collection. As a budding entrepreneur it was really my first time organizing this type of event. It was so much work and so much fun. Fortunately, my cousin Quinn and I documented the whole thing. Come with us behind the scene of the Power Collection!

My cousin Quinn came along with me and helped translate as my Swahili is nonexistent. We travelled from Nairobi to Tanzania to meet our suppliers. We had an awesome experience there with our suppliers who provided us with the best fabric. It was so awesome!

We then headed back to Kenya with fabric in tow. And stopped in Mombasa for rest and resuscitation! Visited with my uncles and a few cousins.

While in Mombasa my best friend, Miriam, my cousin, Mariana, and I visited Fort Jesus, a Portuguese fort built in 1591. The views were beautiful!

We then headed back to Nairobi. We had our clothing samples made with the material which looked fantastic. So we were ready for the shoot.

On the day of the photoshoot we started the day in two vans heading to the secret location far outside of Nairobi City. Our drivers were so nice.

James Quest (I would recommend you visit his page), the photographer and director had an awesome team of individuals who rocked the photoshoot. He can be seen below preparing for the shoot.

Make-up was headed by the very talented Muthoni Njoba and hair styling was provided by her partner.

Then we started shooting. We had two very talented models with us that day Bilha Wachiuri and Maureen…

It started to rain towards the end but we pushed on!

By the end I was sleep deprived and exhausted but we had a blast of an experience. I can’t wait to do it all over again!
